FAQs(Frequently Asked Questions)

What is Deep Drawing?

When we try to achieve a shape which is deeper than width than we refer to it as a deep drawn part.

Most common shapes are cylindrical shapes, however square, rectangular, hemispherical shapes and other non-standard shapes can be achieved by proper tool design.

What is Stamping, Bending, Embossing and Punching?

Other metal forming operations are bending, stamping, embossing and punching (blanking) for more information please refer >capabilities> services offered.

What to expect and what not to expect?

Deep Draw: When drawing the metal, small scuff marks, impression of tools or impurities of parent material can show up on the finished parts.

While we take utmost care to select clean material some small impurities are inevitable.

On most parts we do protective treatment on surface which removes such small defects. Processes done are Buffing, Electro polishing, Electro plating etc.

Drawing of round geometry is easier than the other shapes. There may be some limitations on the bottom radius, corner radii etc. which we must discuss before starting the process. Generally generous radii are better and preferrable.

Blanking / Punching: Burr is a natural defect on blanked and punched parts. We do deburr operations to remove the burr and they get removed to generally acceptable levels.

Bending / Stamping / Embossing: Burr is a natural defect on blanked and punched parts. We do deburr operations to remove the burr and they get removed to generally acceptable levels.

There may be a little spring back depending upon the material and geometry of the parts.

If you have any special concerns on the above, it is advisable to discuss before starting the project with our team. We shall be upfront to let you know what best can be achieved on our equipment.

What further working can be done on deep drawn parts?

Yes, you can. In fact, most of the parts seldom get completed only after deep drawing. Edge forming, Surface treatments, Secondary punching of holes, Welding, attaching of sub-assemblies etc are essential part of getting to the end-product.

We encourage you to discuss with us what is needed from our side, and we shall be glad to help.

We can offer upto ready-to-retail packing for your products.

I have a part/ product that is not standard, what to do?

We understand that most of the products will be unique to your market. When you source from an international vendor your product may not be a standard product in suppliers’ country.

In such scenario it is inevitable to go for customization.

Please refer to >capabilities > Customized Bulk Manufacturing.

What about the tooling cost?

Since it is a customized product for you and your market, you have to bear the tooling cost upfront.

Tooling cost can vary from few hundred to several thousand of US Dollars.

Once you share with us the dimensional drawings of the part along with tolerance required then our team can quote to you the tooling cost.

Who owns the tooling?

Depending upon how much of the tooling cost has been paid the tooling ownership is decided.

For example, you have paid only for the material of the tooling then you and we both own the tools. In this case we may sell the product made from these tools. The decision of P.P. Impex India will be final whether to accept or not part payment for tools.

If fully paid, then you own the tool and we do not sell the product made from those tools.

In either case, the tools remain in our factory, and we maintain it for several years. We also repair it free of cost for any wear and tear which may happened during the production.

We prefer to have an exclusive arrangement with us, so we encourage you to pay the tooling cost fully.

Payment methods accepted by us?

We accept Bank transfer by Legal banking channels only. We shall raise a Proforma invoice stating the conditions before you make the transfer.
